Business owners

Your personal return, prepared alongside your business return.

A good tax return starts with good books

Most tax problems start in the bookkeeping. Owner payments recorded as expenses, missing depreciation, or accounts that were never reconciled all carry straight into the return.

Because accounting is the core of what we do, we review your books before we prepare anything. If we already handle your bookkeeping, your return is built on numbers we've been working with all year.

International and foreign reporting

Foreign ownership, foreign companies, and foreign accounts come with their own filing requirements. We prepare these returns and forms for U.S. businesses with foreign activity and for foreign businesses with U.S. filing obligations.

Foreign-owned U.S. companies 5472

Required for U.S. corporations with 25% foreign ownership and foreign-owned single-member LLCs.

Interests in foreign corporations 5471

For U.S. persons who own or control part of a company outside the U.S.

GILTI and Subpart F income 8992

GILTI and Subpart F calculations for U.S. shareholders of foreign corporations.

Foreign corporations 1120-F

Returns for foreign companies with U.S. income, including those with no U.S. trade or business and protective filings.

Foreign financial assets 8938

Reporting of foreign accounts and assets above IRS thresholds, filed with your tax return.

FBAR FinCEN 114

Required when your foreign accounts total more than $10,000 at any point during the year.

ITIN applications with an IRS Certifying Acceptance Agent

MaxScale Accounting is an IRS Certifying Acceptance Agent (CAA). We help individuals who aren't eligible for a Social Security number get an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

Because we're a CAA, we can verify your identity documents in person at our office. You keep your passport instead of mailing the original to the IRS.

  • Form W-7 preparation and submission
  • In-person document verification
  • ITIN applications filed with your tax return
  • ITIN renewals

Common questions

Something else on your mind? Call us at 954-686-2922.

When are business tax returns due?

For calendar-year businesses, S corporation and partnership returns are due March 15. C corporation and trust returns are due April 15. Nonprofit returns are due May 15. Extensions are available for all of them.

Do you need to do my bookkeeping to prepare my return?

No. We prepare returns for businesses that keep their own books or use another bookkeeper. We review the books first, and if something needs cleanup, we'll tell you before we start.

Can you file an extension for my business?

Yes. An extension gives you more time to file, but not more time to pay, so we'll also help you estimate what you may owe.

Do you prepare state returns?

Yes. We prepare state income tax returns along with your federal return, and handle Florida sales tax filings.

Can you prepare my personal return too?

Yes. Many business owners have us prepare both, which keeps the K-1, owner pay, and estimated payments consistent across both returns.

Does a foreign company with no U.S. trade or business need to file?

It may. A foreign corporation with U.S. income, or one that wants to protect its right to deductions and credits, often files Form 1120-F. We can review your situation and tell you what's required.

Do I need to file an FBAR?

If you're a U.S. person and your foreign bank and financial accounts added together were worth more than $10,000 at any time during the year, you generally need to file FinCEN Form 114. We can review your accounts and file it for you.

Do I have to mail my passport to get an ITIN?

Not with us. As an IRS Certifying Acceptance Agent, we verify your documents in person and return them to you right away, so your original passport stays with you.

How much does business tax preparation cost?

It depends on the type of return and the condition of your books. Contact us for a free estimate.
